Guilty pleas have been entered by two men who reside in Oklahoma and have been accused of laundering money via illegal betting sites online relating to sportsbetting. These are federal charges and will result in stiff penalties against the two.
The two guilty men, Dryden Mitchell and his father Teddy Mitchell stated to Federal District Judge David Russell that they, along with five others, operated the site during the years 2004 through to 2010. The site offered high stake poker and betting on sporting events and was operated out of Costa Rica.
The site claimed to have hundreds of high profile clients with millions passing hands during games hosted on their servers. Players came from various states and not just the state of Oklahoma. The father and son team will be sentenced at a later date and are facing years in prison for their involvement in this illegal betting site. They will further face some large fines and will include giving up property holdings that were purchased with the proceeds of their crimes.
